Small Ville
LOCATION: Zagreb (Croatia)
DESIGN: Dino Tijan| Ema Rozic
YEAR: 2023
A project for the kindergarten of the district of Svetice -city of Zagreb.
As the title would suggest, the building is conceived as a small scale city, where every volume contains a specific function and plays a role in the children’s daily activities. The house like volumes are connected via a central hall or “street” where children can learn, play and interact with each other.
The four main volumes facing the kindergarten park are where the children spend most of their time. These four volumes are intended as small houses in which the children enter from the “street” and through which they can access the park. They can also take a tricycle and have a tour!
The larger volume at the entrance holds the children’s auditorium and multinational hall at the ground floor, while the offices and administrative spaces are located at the 1st floor with its own independent access from the street. In this way the ground floor is all dedicated to the children’s activities.
The central hall features a honeycomb like ceiling structure that hides all the technical aspects of the building while giving it a more playful note.
